Recently, all Massachusetts school districts received updated guidance on schools' legal obligations to prevent and address hate and bias incidents. This guidance was issued in partnership with the Governor's Office, the Office of the Attorney General, the Executive Office of Education (EOE), and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
Hate has no place in our schools. Discriminatory harassment and hate-related bullying are prohibited in our schools and we must all work together to stand up against all forms of hate, bias, and prejudice. As a school district, we are obligated to investigate alleged incidents, respond effectively and take affirmative steps to create a positive school culture where all students feel safe, supported and respected.

We strive to ensure that all students feel welcome, accepted, and supported, regardless of their background, identity, or ability. Our commitment to creating an inclusive environment means every student has equitable access to learning opportunities and is recognized for their unique strengths and needs. By working closely with families, staff, and the broader community, we will continue to create a school climate where student voices are heard and valued, and relationships are built on respect, trust, and empathy. We firmly believe that when students feel a sense of belonging, they are empowered to thrive academically and personally.
