SPORTS MORNING ANNOUNCEMENTS
\r\nIt’s a debate as old as time. What was the better battle scene: the Battle of Helm’s Deep in “The Two Towers”, or the battle of the Pelennor Fields, in the “Return of the King”? Now, there may be a few people who think the battle before the black gate of Mordor is the best, but those people are silly.
\r\nEqually difficult to answer is which day of the division championships was more triumphant for the track and field team. Was it Thursday, when Tommy Perna jumped over 40 feet in the triple jump, Will DeLuca set a school record in the 200, and Ella Dunbury WON the 2 mile, becoming the division champion? Or was it on Saturday, where Will DeLuca again set a school record in the 100, Sean Carter heaved the shot put for 6th place, Kenly Laime and Sean Hancock soared over the high jump bar, Nate Anderson chucked the javelin over the horizon, and the 4x100 team of Tommy Perna, Jake Sousa, Sam Salter, and DeLuca set another school record? Well, I’m leaning towards Saturday, because I haven’t even mentioned the girls yet! Ella Dunbury cemented her dominance by taking 2nd in the 1 mile, Aly Bassett took 4th in the high hurdles, 7th grader Alyssa Caldeira crushed the 100, and then the 4x100 team of Kylie Lewis, Ava Xayavong, Lasadia Gurley, and Aly Bassett ran like the wind blowing down the Misty Mountains, securing a 7th place for our team.
\r\nNext up is the State Championships. But that’s all I’ve got for track and field today. Go away now. Cuz Coach Daley said so!
