We're almost in March, which means that spring is around the corner.  But is it really?  Are we done with the snow?  You never can tell in New England, so in this Environmental Minute, we have a quick breakdown of some winter weather types.

Snow is the most common form of solid precipitation.  Everyone knows what that is.  But there’s also sleet: which is basically frozen raindrops.  Hail is larger lumps of ice that are usually as small as a pea, but in rare cases can get as big as a grapefruit, and totally wreck your car.  Then there’s freezing rain, which is liquid cooled below 32 degrees that freezes on contact with solid objects, like roads, trees, or powerlines. This results in a solid coating of ice that can cause serious damage, and is often referred to as “glaze ice”.  If Mr. Pike were here, he’d probably try to explain how glaze ice is where we get the term “glazing” for something we really like.  Fortunately, he’s not, so let’s just skip that nonsense.

Anyways, here’s hoping we’re past all this bad weather.  But in case we’re not, look out for that glaze ice! I’m Victoria, and THAT’s an Environmental Minute!

2/27 Today’s breakfast is warm cinnamon and sugar donuts.  Other choices include a variety of pastries, soft pretzels, uncrustables, assorted breakfast sandwiches, strawberry smoothies, caramel apple and granola nachos and the “pick 2” snack rack. For cereal lovers, check out the new cereal varieties at the speedy cereal display in front of the milk chest.

It’s taco Tuesday! Today’s featured lunch is a pair of soft shell beef and cheese tacos with tortilla chips and your choice of toppings. A turkey gobbler sub with stuffing and cranberry sauce is at the grill and the pizza station is serving Tony’s French bread pizza. The freshly made grab and go’s include chicken caesar salads and wraps, Chicken bacon ranch wraps and salads, vegetarian mediterranean wraps, bagels w/ yogurt, ham subs and uncrustables.
