On March 2nd, 1955, 15-year-old black Claudette Colvin refused to give up her seat to a white passenger on the bus in Montgomery Alabama and was the first person to do so. This was 9 months before Rosa Park’s more famous protest. The rules back then were that whites had to sit in front of the blacks on the bus. Colvin was inspired to stand up for her rights after learning about past African American leaders at school. Civil rights leaders decided not to publicize her story because she became an unwed mother. Because of Parks, Colvin, and many others, we are no longer segregated and have the right to sit together freely and happily.

The Wildcat Cafe is serving chicken nuggets and noodles on the hotline today. Burgers and grill cheese are at the grill and the pizza station is offering Domino’s pizza. The featured grab and gos this week are a crispy chicken breast salad bowl and an Asian chicken wrap with crunchy chow mein noodles and peapods. Cheese quiche, French toast sticks with tots,  assorted breakfast sandwiches and pastries are available at break.
