RYLA ( ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD ) ROTARY DISTRICT 7950 THE ROTARY CLUB OF THE BRIDGEWATERS APPLICATION PROCESS VIRTUAL EVENT JULY 30 – AUGUST 1, 2021 The District 7950 RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) program is a life-changing leadership program for tomorrow's leaders to gain hands-on experience in developing leadership skills with a focus on community service. The conference is open to current high school sophomores and current juniors with lasting opportunities for RYLA alumni to step forward and work with Rotarians and other organizations to put their leadership skills into action through coordination of leadership seminars and community projects throughout the year. Another way to get some service hours, the French Honor Society is collecting personal hygiene items for the Haitian Health Foundation. NHS members, Leo’s club, and seniors can receive 1 hour of community service for every 2 FULL SIZE items donated. Some suggested items include soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, and nail clippers. Members of the French Honor Society will collect items from Powerblocks. Items can also be dropped off in Room 214 and there will be a collection bin in the main office for donations. See Mrs. Eddlem with any questions. The last day for donations is May 21.
Track Results:
The WB spring track and field team took to the track for the first time in 2 years, but it didn’t take them long to shake off the rust, soundly defeating Tri County for both the boys and girls squads. How do ya like them apples, jabroni?
The boys won 93-42.
Ben Fuller had a beast of a debut, crushing the long jump with a 19’6”. He also won the triple jump and the 4x100
DJ Amaya said “what’s up buttercup?” and had a 4 victory day - winning the 100 m, 200 m, high jump, and 4x100.
Sammy Sousa won the discus and 4x400. Cuz that’s what he do.
Jacob Sousa decided to win the high hurdles, then perform an encore in the 4x100 relay
Great performances, doods.
The girls track team defeated Tri-County 95 to 36. The win was a total team effort with many girls having outstanding performances and picking up points. Some of the notable performances included:
Anna Trott first in triple and high hurdles
Lauren Mitcheson first in the High Jump, 4x400 relay and the 400m with a new personal best time
Ellie Smith finished first in the 800, 4x400 relay and the 1 Mile
Janella Jacobs, Grace Schnell, Aly Bassett, Rachael Geniuch, and Kylie Lewis rounded out the rest of the first place finishes for WB
- (5/13) Today’s lunch is chicken parm over rotini pasta with garlic bread, BBQ Pulled pork sandwiches and Tony’s French bread pizza. Freshly made grab and gos include buffalo chicken wraps and salads, chicken caesar wraps and salads, mediterranean hummus wraps and garden salads.
Ham and cheese croissants with tots, warm donuts, yogurt parfaits, soft pretzels, and assorted egg sandwiches and pastries are available at break.
