Track and field results against Bishop Connolly:
The Wildcats unleashed the wrath of the heavens upon the hapless Bishop Connolly track and field team, picking up victories for both the boys and the girls squads.
The dudes won 90-45, bringing them to a record of 3-1 on the season as they head into their final meet next week.
The throw squad of Jon Hogrelli, Brandon LaGrange, and Nate Anderson crushed it today, with Hogrelli taking 1sts in the shot and disc, and Brandon and Nate picking up 2nds and 3rd like nobody’s business
Tommy Perna and Jacob Anderson took 1st and 2nd in the high jump, then did the same in the high hurdles, and then capped it off with a win in the 4x100 relay. This ain’t your granddad’s track and field team, that’s for darn tooting.
Ben Fuller made victories in the triple jump and 200 look easy peasey, like taking candy from a baby who’s trying to hit water from a boat while eating a cake with his eyes closed.
Madsen Anderson qualified for states in the 1 mile with a sweet 4:40 mile time. Aaaaaand boom goes the dynamite.
The girls won 95 to 32. Several of the girls had outstanding performances and PR’s including Rachael Geniuch who tied the school record in the Long Jump with a jump of 16’10” and Anna Trott who jumped her season best Long Jump and also qualified for the State Championship. Ellie Smith officially qualified for States in the 1 Mile. Lasadia Gurley ran an outstanding 200 meter race pulling ahead of her teammates at the end. Other personal best’s included Madison Keough in the Javelin and Aly Bassett as a first-timer in the Triple Jump. Grace Schnell also picked up some points winning the Triple and placing in the Long Jump and 100.
Varsity softball beat Holbrook 4-2 in extra innings. Holbrook tied it in the bottom of the 7th. Catcher Lily Martel picked off two runners in the bottom of the 8th. Joelle Cameron hit her first home run of the year. Kelsey Connors had a double, a triple, and a homerun. Alexis Anderson gave up only 2 runs in 8 innings while striking out 12. Girls are now 7-0 for the year.
JV softball lost 14-13 against Westport yesterday. The girls fought their hardest until the end. Mia Harrington had a great two run triple and had some great stops behind the plate. The girls play today against EB at 3:30.

POEM
there's eight days til vacation and all through the school
kids sleep at their desks and they’re starting to drool
this year was exhausting, that much is true
i’m ready for summer, and i think you are too
i walk down the hallway feeling tired inside
but each room i walk by fills me with pride
your teachers are still here day after day
even though at this point you wish they’d go away
but they're here to teach, there’s still work left to do
and believe it or not, they care about you
i promise you this, they’re not here for the money
a teacher who’s rich? now that would be funny
but joking aside, while we’re reaching for summer
i’m reminded that life without you is a bummer
now i might be biased, but I think you’re the best
all the students and staff here at wbhs
it’s one hundred percent true, we all need some time off
so I’ll say just a little more before I sign off
there’s things that you’ll miss, if your eyes aren’t open
i know that sounds fake, but here’s what i’m hoping
i hope you laugh and you smile and have a good time
with your friends and your family, that’s my bottom line
and despite all the struggles each of us go through,
please remember this truth: we believe in you
